Pontiac Vibe

Introduced in 2002 as a model for 2003, Pontiac Vibe was a joint product between Toyota and General Motors. It came with a platform based on Toyota Corolla and an engine based on the Toyota. However, it does not fit into any vehicle category.  It combines the features of a sports car in terms of styling and engine, within its four-door structure resembling a relatively short wagon.  It also shares some features with the SUV, including the tall ride, the spacious cargo area, as well as, the available AWD system. One outstanding this about this car is its fuel efficiency.

Pontiac Vibe

Pontiac vibe comes with a four-cylinder engine, transversely mounted. It includes front suspensions with Macpherson struts, rear suspension, which include semi-independent torsion beam on the base model. The AWD model comes with independent double wishbone suspension. The base and AWD model’s engine comes with 1.5 liter capacity, as well as, 130 horsepower, while that of the Vibe GT is a high- performance version of the same engine but with 180 hp. The base model is available with the five-speed manual and a four-speed automatic transmission, while the AWD model features the four-speed automatic transmission and the GT provides a six-speed manual transmission.

When it comes to the interior, Pontiac Vibe is available with versatility and a lot of space. The elevated roofline offers the users, both front and rear passengers, ample headroom.  The dashboard features sharp and sporty features, including chrome trimmings and round gauges. Drivers will get to enjoy the tall sitting position and controls that are easy to use. The car owners can make use of the 115V power outlet for charging their mobile devices and an MP3 input jack, so that users can enjoy music as they travel.

To get extra space, the users can fold the rear seats or make use of the roof rack to accommodate their entire luggage. In case of long items, the users should fold the front-passenger seats, transforming them into a table. The storage area includes a number of features such as hooks, grocery compartments and mesh Buyers should get cargo mats because the cargo has a plastic floor.

The performance of the Pontiac vibe comes with a good handling and a ride that is stable.  The only problem is that the engine is a little bit noisy at acceleration. There will also be wind noise at highway speed. The presence of the all-wheel drive system offers better traction on slippery roads.

After offering the users a combination of style and functionality, GM and Toyota stopped the production of the Pontiac Vibe. Buyers who have recently bought this vehicle need not to worry, because they are under the best coverage, which includes 100,000 mile/ 5-year transferrable Powertrain Limited Warranty, courtesy transportation and roadside assistance.

Even with the discontinuation, users of Pontiac Vibe will enjoy the spacious interior, sporty appearance and excellent fuel economy.  It is a reliable car that is easy to maintain and is safe, as it received five stars for the NHTSA frontal crash test for the driver and the front passenger.
